BASEIND Statistics Database

The SESRIC BASEIND (BAsic Social and Economic INDicators) Database provides data on 256 socio-economic variables under 17 categories for the 57 OIC member countries dating back to 1970. The content of this database is regularly updated and enriched essentially on the basis of information collected from the national statistical sources. The Centre is also in communication with international organizations such as International Monetary Fund, United Nations, World Bank, International Labour Organization, World Health Organization and World Tourism Organization to ensure that the database would be as complete as possible.

Displaying the desired data in HTML, Excel or CSV formats is possible after completing the following five steps:

  • Step 1 (Country Selection): One or more countries out of 57 OIC Member States are selected.
  • Step 2 (Indicator Category Selection): Categories of interest are selected.
  • Step 3 (Indicator Selection): Indicators of interest belonging to the categories specified in Step – 2 are selected.
  • Step 4 (Range Selection & Report Formatting): The year range and some formatting options are selected.

Note on Display Limitation: There is a limit on the amount of data that can be reported each time. The number of countries selected (C) multiplied by the number of indicators (I) should not exceed 550. (i.e. C x I <= 550). When a user selects 10 countries at step 1, he may select at most 55 indicators at step 3.
